What are we working towards this term?

This term we are learning about South America. In geography the children will be locating the countries and cities within South America and researching their different climates and biomes. They will explore the relationships between the physical features of places and the human activity within them as well as researching the trade and industry that occurs there. In English Year 5/6 are writing to persuade. They will learn about the different language features used in a persuasive text and discuss, plan and write their own persuasive text based on South America.

Our science this term will focus on different materials and their properties. The children will be learning about a variety of everyday materials including wood, plastic, glass, metal, water and rock and the physical properties of these variety of everyday materials. They will then compare these properties and find out how the materials are suitably used. They will also investigate the roles of melting, evaporation and condensation and the role temperature has on the rate of evaporation.
